BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Temperatures trend hotter this weekend before higher rain chances return next week in association with a new area being monitored for potential tropical development.
TODAY’S FORECAST
Heat will be the primary concern this weekend, with afternoon high temperatures climbing into the mid 90s. When combined with the humidity, heat index values will soar to 105 degrees or higher during the afternoon.
While there is no Heat Advisory for the Baton Rouge metro, it’s still important to take precautions, as this level of heat can quickly lead to heat-related illnesses. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. for areas surrounding Lake Maurepas and Lake Pontchartrain, where humidity levels will be even higher.
