Several Baton Rouge area eateries received critical violations from the Louisiana Health Department during routine restaurant inspections from June 15-30, with many businesses dealing with gnat infestations in the warming summer months.
The health department’s retail food health inspections dashboard includes a history of each establishment’s inspection reports, allowing residents and visitors of Louisiana to make informed decisions as consumers, according to their website. Inspections are a “snapshot” in time and do not always reflect the day-to-day operations and overall condition of an establishment.
According to the website, violations fall into two main categories, critical and noncritical. Critical violations, if left uncorrected, are more likely to directly contribute to food contamination or illness.
