Michael Scott Lamana was 7 years old and preparing for his first Communion at St. Aloysius Catholic Church when he was asked to draw a picture of his family.
In simple lines, the Baton Rouge kid, known to everyone as Scott, drew a portrait of himself, his dad, mom and two sisters backed by a city with an airplane flying overhead. Lamana drew the number 77 on the plane in his family portrait.
Why 77? Scott’s dad, Michael Lamana, said his son was fascinated by the story of American pilot Robert T. Smith, who flew aircraft No. 77 for the American Volunteer Group Flying Tigers during World War II…
