There is still something special about church anniversaries.
In a time when so many churches are struggling to fill pews, wondering about their futures or closing their doors, church anniversary services may carry even greater meaning.
On consecutive Sundays recently, I had the opportunity to witness two Baton Rouge churches celebrate very different milestones. One — Effectual Words Ministries — is just beginning to write its history, with its first anniversary program. The other — Greater Sixty Aid Baptist Church — has been writing its history for 150 years.
