Texas A&M and Louisiana State University’s rivalry has quietly become one of college football’s most exciting feuds. But a Baton Rouge bar is facing backlash over a T-shirt design it made ahead of the game later this month, with some fans calling the shirts homophobic.
On Tuesday, Murphy’s Bar, located in Baton Rouge and frequented by LSU fans, showed off a T-shirt on Instagram that many online called homophobic. In a now-deleted Instagram story, Murphy’s Bar posted a group of girls wearing purple T-shirts that read “Tigers whoop the F out of the Aggie until they STTDB.” The letter “F” is aligned in such a way with the word “Aggie” that it spells out a homophobic slur. “STTDB” is an acronym for a vulgar chant at LSU football games. The shirt also has the game’s date of Sept. 26, 2026.
After backlash, Murphy’s bar owner Ty Hingle said the shirt will no longer be sold and that it was only meant as a “lighthearted jab at an SEC rival” for T-Shirt Night, a promotional night at the bar.
