Long-time LSU research lab manager retires, new manager assumes leadership

LSU’s Wetland Biogeochemistry Analytical Services (WBAS) lab has been a staple for environmental research at LSU since 2005.

Thomas “Tommy” Blanchard has helped lead WBAS for more than two decades, serving as manager of the lab. He first joined LSU in 1998. He retired in August after more than 28 years at LSU. Song Li is the new WBAS manager.

When he first came to LSU, Blanchard started working with Robert Twilley. In 2004, Twilley was hired to be director of the Wetland Biogeochemistry Institute, which is the parent organization of WBAS. Twilley and Robert built a lab that went on to support countless research projects and advance Louisiana’s understanding of the complex waterways in the state…
