Drier, less humid air is currently filtering into the Capital Area, causing some welcome change. Heat index values will finally stay below the triple digits, and lows will reach into the upper 60s.
Today & Tonight: A noticeable refreshing trend arrives Thursday morning as lower humidity levels settle in. While afternoon highs will still climb into the low-to-mid 90s, the drier air mass will keep heat index values much more manageable. Rain will be extremely scarce, though a brief spotty shower can’t be entirely ruled out. Drier air overnight will allow temperatures to dip into the upper 60s, with the best chances of that happening along and north of the 10/12 corridor.
Up Next: Expect that comfortable air to stick around through Friday and the weekend, keeping overnight lows pleasantly down in the upper 60s. Afternoon temperatures will remain hot, reaching the lower 90s. As humidity slowly builds back in early next week, shower and thunderstorm chances will return to the forecast.
