Deputies arrest woman who allegedly stole $10K from 67-year-old after opening bank accounts using stolen ID

BATON ROUGE — An alleged thief and forger stole $10,000 from a 67-year-old woman after opening multiple bank accounts using her stolen identity, East Baton Rouge Parish deputies said.

Deputies said that, on June 10, the 67-year-old Baton Rouge resident filed an identity theft complaint after $10,000 was in the process of being withdrawn from her Regions Bank account. She also received a text from AT&T asking her if she approved an eSIM swap for her phone.

Shortly after, her phone became inactive, and the funds were removed from her account, as noted in arrest records…
