Baton Rouge area residents criticized Amazon’s drone deliveries, alleging company dishonesty and a threat to quality of life at a community meeting in Broadmoor Thursday evening.
The Prime Air drones, which deliver packages up to five pounds from the Cortana Place fulfillment center, have been zooming over Baton Rouge since July and were hailed by city leaders as a testament to the city’s drive for innovation. About 100 residents attended the more than 2.5-hour meeting, with many urging Amazon officials to reduce the drones’ noise, increase their altitude, and reduce the frequency of deliveries.
