WASHINGTON,Oct. 8, 2026 — A new fiber project in Louisiana is making history while bringing faster internet to thousands of residents, giving communities in East Baton Rouge Parish a new broadband option.
Louisiana has broken ground on what state officials describe as the country’s largest Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment Program (BEAD)-funded broadband project, marking a major step from federal broadband funding to network construction.
Gov. Jeff Landry, R, ConnectLA officials and REV Fiber joined local officials Wednesday to launch the project, which will bring fiber service to 2,840 locations in East Baton Rouge Parish.
