Matcha fans have cleaned out Twistella three times since the Baton Rouge shop opened last month.
Located in the Arlington Marketplace at 630 Arlington Creek Centre Drive, Twistella had its soft opening in a 1,200-square-foot space on Sept. 1. The menu features coffee and desserts, but the main attraction is the matcha. Owner Abood Odeh imports ceremonial-grade matcha directly from Uji, Japan.
The cafe has been selling about 200 cups a day, Odeh said, which is roughly 400 to 500 grams of matcha a day. Shipments can take one to two weeks to arrive. Japanese holidays can delay them.
