Baker man found shot, killed in car in LaPlace

LAPLACE, La. ( WGNO ) — A Baker man was found shot in a car in LaPlace and died at the scene on Thursday, Jan. 18.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported deputies responded to the scene around 8:30 p.m. in the Captain G. Bourgeois area. They found 36-year-old Kenneth Ray Paynes shot multiple times and unresponsive inside a car.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies and emergency personnel tried to give him medical aid, but he died at the scene.

Investigators are working to determine a motive for the fatal shooting.
