Ted James preparing run for Baton Rouge mayor-president, sources say; he’s leaving federal job

East Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome may soon have her first challenger for re-election, sources said. Former State Rep. Ted James announced his resignation Wednesday from his role as regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration after two years with the agency, where he oversaw operations across Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. James will officially depart from the agency on Saturday, Feb. 10.
