Jury acquits man accused of shooting at three BRPD officers

William Garner emerged victorious in a 2020 trial after he was unsuccessfully prosecuted on rape and armed robbery charges. Late Friday, the 58-year-old Baton Rouge man beat another felony case, this one stemming from an August 2022 police-involved shooting in the Zion City neighborhood. Prosecutors sought to prove that Garner fired at three Baton Rouge Police Department officers responding to a domestic disturbance near his Packard Street residence.
