Holiday Festivals & Events Happening this Weekend: December 19, 20, 21, 22

The Winter Solstice happens this Saturday. It’s the last weekend to shop before Christmas. Hanukkah begins on December 25. Kwanza starts on December 26.

Many of this weekend’s festivals offer opportunities to purchase local handmade items perfect for holiday gift-giving.

NOLA ChristmasFest – New Orleans – December 20 through 30

Held inside the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, NOLA ChristmasFest is an indoor, family-friendly holiday attraction. An enchanting winter wonderland, it features a Gingerbread Village, a giant wreath and tree, an ice slide, ice skating, carnival rides, and holiday-themed attractions and entertainment.

Winter Solstice Service – Baton Rouge – December 20

A Winter Solstice service will happen at Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mark the longest night of the year during this annual event.

Caroling in Jackson Square – New Orleans – December 22

The Caroling in Jackson Square tradition delights locals and visitors from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, December 21. New Orleans dignitaries and clergy will lead the community sing-along. Complimentary songbooks and candles will be distributed to participants in this non-denominational community celebration.
