The money that the stars of Swamp People make hunting alligators and other creatures is nice, but many of them also have side gigs to pay the bills. One of the things that two of the show’s stars are now doing ties in well with their work on the show. Anna Ribbeck and Bruce Mitchell are hosting bowfishing clinics at the LSU lakes.
Here is what you need to know about Anna and Bruce’s side gig.
What Is Bowfishing?
Bowfishing is a fishing technique that uses archery equipment to impale and retrieve fish. Basically, instead of throwing in a line with bait and waiting for a fish to bite, this combines hunting with fishing. A person will have a bow or crossbow and shoot a barbed arrow tethered to a line. They then retrieve the line and arrow back.
This allows them to shoot the fish from land and then pull it in with the line. Of course, this is for people who plan to keep the fish for food. Many fishermen will fish for sport and throw them back after catching them. With bowfishing, the fish are dead on contact. However, in some parts of the country, people still do it for sport and leave the dead fish behind.
Bowfishing is also mostly unregulated and unmanaged, but it is starting to get more attention. Thanks to two stars from Swamp People, it might get even more attention since they are now teaching a class on bowfishing for people wanting to learn more about it.
Anna & Bruce From Swamp People Teaching At LSU Lakes
Anna Ribbeck and Bruce Mitchell are hosting bowfishing clinics at the LSU lakes. This is their first-ever bowfishing clinic with BREC and Gotham Archery. “Bow fishing is a sport for everybody it’s so much fun you’re gonna miss a lot of fish y’all but when you hit one and you stick it and you get to bring that home for dinner, the best feeling in the world,” Anna Ribbeck said (via WBRZ)…
