BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – A husband and wife from Virginia in town for the big bowling championships were hit by a pickup truck yesterday night while trying to cross the highway, killing the man and critically injuring his wife, according to investigators.
Right after 10 p.m., police say the driver of a pickup truck heading down Lobdell Highway near Commercial Drive hit and killed 80-year-old Robert DiDomenico and critically injured his wife.
“They were walking toward the direction of Wendy’s so it’s believed they were trying to go grab some dinner for the evening and ultimately they were struck by a GMC Sierra that was traveling south,” West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Landon Groger said.
