Inside the creepy abandoned theme park taken over by alligators

It’s been nearly two decades since the last roller coaster launched at the abandoned Six Flags in New Orleans , Louisiana, but soon the area could bring fun for a new generation.

The amusement park stood vacant for nearly 20 years after it was battered by Hurricane Katrina. In February, FOX Weather reported developers tore down the remaining fixtures on the 227-acre park to make way for a new entertainment venue.

The torrential rains and strong winds left the park a total loss. It closed for good in 2006 after Six Flags deemed it unrepairable. It was inundated with seven feet of water after the storm, and it remained there for a month after a drainage pump failed, according to NOLA.com…
