After dropping the series opener early Saturday Afternoon, the LSU Baseball team needed someone to step up and deliver a massive performance to get the Tigers to Sunday with a chance to win the series over Texas A&M. The one player who can truly determine the outcome of the game took matters into his own hands as Anthony Eyanson delievered the best game of his LSU career. The transfer star gave the Tigers a complete game allowing just one run and just four base runners while striking out 14.

The performance was incredible and just what LSU needed as the offense was only able to score 2 runs in this game, while the Tigers need all hands on deck out of the bullpen on Sunday. After the game, Jay Johnson was asked about Anthony Eyanson and he delivered the quote of the year.
He’s just one of those guys who came into this program as a man. You can’t bring little boys into a program like LSU and win in an environment like this. That’s a great team and lineup over there. He has continued to get better with each outing. In this environment, a hostile environment, and pitch like that, that’s a competitor. He looked like Michael B Jordan when he was going to fight Drago’s kid in the movie Creed. There’s no chance I was ever taking him out of the game in the 9th inning, he dominated the pitch count. He’s not only a great pitcher. He’s a killer out there. Jay Johnson
For Anthony Eyanson, to hear those words from your head coach has to feel incredible as he referred to you as a man and a killer while also comparing how you looked to Michael B Jordan which is an incredible compliment. We may be able to assume by Johnson’s reference to Creed that that’s the movie the team had on the bus.
When Jay Johnson added Anthony Eyanson in the transfer portal this Summer, we referred to it as his ” Crown Jewel ” of the loaded transfer class. When Eyanson struggled against Nebraska and in his first 2 SEC starts, it looked like he may not be the best fit on the weekends. Since that point, Eyanson has been dominant as LSU has gone 4-2 in his starts, including losing a game where he only allowed 2 runs against Tennessee…
