Baton Rouge man pleads guilty to firearm possession charges, sentenced to 10 years

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A Baton Rouge man has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

Rayshawn Rogers, 24, was sentenced on May 27 to 10 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections, with credit for time served. The sentence was handed down by Judge John Smith in the 23rd Judicial District Court, according to District Attorney Ricky Babin.

On Dec. 5, 2022, a St. James Parish Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near the LA 70 Service Road and LA 44.
