Since launching in 2021, Cookies by Freddie has shared the classic taste of a homemade cookie with Baton Rouge at local pop-up markets, as well as weddings and special events. Now, the old-fashioned comfort cookies are on the move aboard Louisiana’s first cookie truck.
“I started Cookies by Freddie during one of the most difficult times in my life, adjusting to new motherhood,” owner Frederique Bekale explains. “Baking became my therapy. The simple act of mixing and measuring helped restore my sense of purpose and joy when I needed it most.”
Soon, she was baking more cookies than her household could eat and began sharing them with friends and family. After eight months of perfecting recipes and gaining confidence, she launched Cookies by Freddie as a cottage bakery. “What began as a way to cope with the pressures of new motherhood blossomed into a business built on kindness and connection,” she says.
