Murder trial in death of “Gummie” Williams concludes

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – An Ascension Parish jury found a man guilty Friday in the death of a Donaldsonville man gunned down in a hotel hallway four years ago.

Qwonkeious Williams, known to friends and loved ones as “Gummie,” was 25 when he was shot in 2021.

On Friday, July 3, a jury found Marty Leonard, 37, of Pierre Part, LA, guilty of second-degree murder and three counts of aggravated criminal property damage.

Sentencing was deferred to a later date. The charge of second-degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence.
