Baton Rouge, LA – Louisiana and Southern Mississippi residents should brace for extreme heat Monday, as temperatures soar and humidity causes heat index values to climb to dangerous levels. From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, much of the region, including Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and coastal areas, will experience heat index values up to 112°F.
According to the National Weather Service, the heat advisory will affect portions of southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi, including major cities like New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Biloxi. The advisory will be in effect through the afternoon and evening hours on Monday.
