Baton Rouge woman faces attempted murder charge after attack on Union Parish deputy

Union Parish, La. (KNOE) – A Baton Rouge woman faces an attempted murder charge after an attack on a Union Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy.

On July 26, a UPSO deputy was working a “off-duty detail” at a healthcare facility in Union Parish. A client of the facility, 32-year-old Kitauge Bennett began yelling profanities and causing a disturbance.

UPSO says the deputy tired to de-escalate the situation but Bennett grew more aggressive and confronted the deputy. According to UPSO, Bennett stated she was “not afraid of the badge.”…
