BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Renters in Baton Rouge are getting more space for their money compared to many other U.S. cities, according to a new report from RentCafe.com.
In 2025, $1,500 a month rents an average of 1,138 square feet in Baton Rouge. That’s over five times more space than in Manhattan. There, $1,500 only gets you 216 square feet, the smallest in the nation, according to the report.
The report ranks the 200 largest cities in the U.S. by how much space renters can afford on a $1,500 monthly budget. Nationwide, that budget typically nets just 715 square feet. But in Baton Rouge, it’s enough for a spacious two-bedroom or even a three-bedroom unit…
