Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) will embark on a new era of healthcare education this month with the official opening of the Our Lady of the Lake Nursing and Allied Health Building. The new facility, located on BRCC’s Mid City Campus, will bring the college’s School of Nursing and Division of Allied Health under one roof, creating an advanced hub for training the next generation of medical professionals.
The 92,800 square foot, four-story building represents a $35 million investment. Previously, BRCC and Our Lady of the Lake Health announced a partnership that included a $12 million investment from The Lake to help fund the facility’s construction and development. Designed by Chasm Architecture and Mackey Mitchell, with Ratcliff Construction Company serving as general contractor, this project marks the first new classroom building on BRCC’s Mid City Campus since 2009.
“We are thrilled to celebrate the partnership between Baton Rouge Community College and Our Lady of the Lake Health, which underscores the importance of investing in the future of our healthcare professionals and leaders,” said E.J. Kuiper, President and CEO of FMOL Health, the parent organization of Our Lady of the Lake Health. “The new building, with its state-of-the-art facilities and simulation-heavy training, will provide invaluable hands-on experience for our future nurses. This practical approach to education ensures that our graduates are not only knowledgeable but also adept at applying their skills in real-world scenarios, ultimately enriching the healthcare community.”
The building will house BRCC’s existing programs in nursing, sonography, surgical technology, phlebotomy, medical laboratory technology and medical assisting, while also creating room for new in-demand programs such as respiratory care, physical and occupational therapy, and athletic training…
