Gov. Landry: Over 100 arrested in Baton Rouge operation targeting violent crime

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Gov. Jeff Landry said a Baton Rouge operation targeting violent crime has resulted in over 100 arrests and the seizure of guns, machine gun conversion devices and drugs.

Landry said Operation Violent Crime Takedown targeted gang-related crime and the distribution of deadly drugs in local neighborhoods. He said Wednesday’s announcement marks the start of a constant operation until crime rates are lower.

“We bury far too many young people as a result of these drugs, and the pushing of those drugs, we bury far too many people because of the violence of those drugs lead to,” he said…
