Gonzales hospital worker accused of stealing elderly patient’s wallet arrested

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An employee at a Gonzales rehabilitation hospital was arrested after police said she stole an elderly patient’s wallet and used his debit card at local businesses.

On Aug. 16, Gonzales Police Department officers went to Sage Rehabilitation Hospital on East Worthey Road after an 86-year-old patient reported his wallet was missing. The victim later discovered fraudulent charges on his account in Gonzales and Baton Rouge.

GPD said surveillance video showed Tanisha N. Jackson, of Baton Rouge, using the victim’s debit card at Off The Hook in Gonzales. A search warrant on Jackson’s vehicle found the victim’s wallet and receipts for $125.85 in purchases.
