BATON ROUGE — Nearly 8,000 potentially lethal doses of fentanyl were taken off the streets of Baton Rouge last week following two operations by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit (GIE).
Eight people were arrested after GIE deputies, along with other agencies, seized a large amount of fentanyl, other narcotics and illegal drugs off the streets. The seizures and arrests occurred in two separate operations; altogether, the GIE seized more than 1.7 pounds of fentanyl—equivalent to over 7,800 potentially lethal doses—as well as eight illegally possessed firearms, including stolen weapons and a machine gun.
During July and August, members of the EBRSO Gang Intelligence and Enforcement Unit, led by the EBRSO SCAT, investigated an alleged poly-drug distributor Malchai Tillman.
