BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Two men were arrested after West Baton Rouge deputies found stolen firearms during two separate traffic stops on Tuesday.
The first stop involved a Nissan Altima that was pulled over for traffic violations. WBRSO said a passenger, Michael Hatley, 19, of Port Allen, was found with a firearm reported stolen. Hatley was arrested and booked into the West Baton Rouge Parish Detention Center on a charge of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Later that night, deputies stopped a Kia Optima, also for traffic violations. WBRSO said the driver, Jalan Washington, 21, of Port Allen, was found with a stolen firearm as well. He was arrested and booked on the same charge, but has since bonded out. Hatley remains in custody.
Sheriff Jeff Bergeron said, “The recovery of stolen firearms is more than making an arrest; it’s about preventing future crimes. My deputies will continue working tirelessly to remove illegal guns from our streets and keep our community safe.”…
