Oppressive Heat Continues Grip on Acadiana with Upper 90s Expected

We’re locked into a familiar pattern here across Acadiana as we head into the next several days.

We’ll continue to see those steamy, summer-like conditions sticking around, with daytime highs expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s from today right through the early part of next week. This heat is certainly more oppressive than what we typically see for this time of year. The good news, if you can call it that, is that lower humidity levels will keep our “real feel” temperatures, or heat indices, capped in the upper 90s each day.

We don’t anticipate many widespread or heavy precipitation events. However, an upper-level wave moving across the central U.S. might provide just enough instability to spark a few isolated showers or very weak thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoons, the next two days The chance of these pops-up is quite low, holding under 10%. For the rest of the week, we’ll largely be under the influence of high pressure, bringing us hot and dry conditions with mostly sunny skies…
