One arrested after pursuit that reached near 100 mph in Addis

ADDIS — Officers arrested a Baton Rouge man after a high-speed pursuit through Addis and Brusly in West Baton Rouge Parish on Sunday night.

It was just before 10 p.m. when an Addis police officer attempted to stop a white Kia Optima that was headed south on La 1 for a headlight that was out. Addis Police Chief Jason Langlois said the officer tried to stop the driver, Brandon Burrell, on La 1 near the Addis/Plaquemine line.

“It was a simple traffic stop. The guy sped up when the (police) lights came on. It went down to the Dow tracks, stayed in West Baton Rouge and by the tracks, it made an illegal left turn, flipped around to go northbound, hit the median a few times, hit speeds close to 100 mph and at one point, it went north in the southbound lanes and then came across the median,” Chief Langlois told UWK
