The state takeover of underperforming Baker schools can resume, appeals court says

The state takeover of two F-rated schools in Baker is potentially back on after an appellate court tossed an April decision by a Baton Rouge judge that temporarily halted the move.

If it stands, the ruling by the First Circuit Court of Appeal gives state education leaders a freer hand in wresting control of the operations of chronically low-performing schools from resistant local leaders.
