Baton Rouge man arrested in connection with shooting in grocery store parking lot

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — An investigation by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office after shots were fired in a grocery store parking lot led to a man’s arrest.

Jayvon Washington, 19, of Baton Rouge, was charged with attempted second-degree murder and theft under $1,000.

Deputies responded just before 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, to the Albertsons at 9960 Bluebonnet Boulevard. They learned that shots were fired at the victim from inside a white sedan.

EBRSO spoke with the shooting victim, who was later identified as an Albertsons employee, at their home. The victim told authorities that Washington was a high school acquaintance and wanted to sell him some shoes…
