BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) —A free jazz concert at Southern University is scheduled for this month.
The concert will feature the Southern University Jazz Ensemble led by saxophonist Roderick Paulin. They will then cede the stage to the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, which trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis will lead.
“This event is about more than great music—it’s about inspiring the next generation of jazzmusicians,” said Paulin. “We are giving our students a chance to experience what ittakes to be a professional on stage, right alongside some of the very best.”…
