“Oh Lord, my baby been shot” | Baton Rouge mother recounts son’s deadly porch shooting

BATON ROUGE — Keisha Jackson had just gotten home from the store with her son and daughter on Oct. 8 when dozens of shots were fired at her home, and her 25-year-old son, Kyron Carter was killed on her front porch.

“He was sitting outside in my rocking chair, smoking his cigarette, listening to his music. And that’s when the shots occurred,” Jackson, Carter’s mother told UWK. “I was getting up to get ready to go in the kitchen, and I’m like, ‘Oh my God, it’s war out there.’”

“I opened my front door and saw my baby laying there, and I holler, ‘Oh Lord, my baby been shot. My baby been shot. Oh Lord, somebody help me,’ and I dialed 911,” Jackson said…
