Country singer Mark Chesnutt hospitalized before Baton Rouge concert

BATON ROUGE — Country singer Mark Chesnutt was hospitalized ahead of his Baton Rouge concert Thursday night at the Raising Cane’s River Center Arena, concert officials announced after he failed to take the stage.

Chesnutt was in town to open for Country Music Hall of Fame band Alabama, which is currently in the middle of its North American tour.

Attendees say an announcement was made that he remains in the hospital under observation. Another band later took the stage and performed Chesnutt’s songs as a tribute.

Chesnutt, a native of Beaumont, Texas, is no stranger to south Louisiana. He last performed in the area at Rock the Country in Livingston Parish in April…
