BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The U.S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans responded to a mayday call at 4:49 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16.
Officials said the call came in on VHF channel 16, which led to a search on the Mississippi River near Baton Rouge. The search involved a Coast Guard helicopter and lasted two hours in the area where the mayday call came from. It took place between mile marker 225 and mile marker 215.
