Baton Rouge pet food giveaway to help those affected by federal government shutdown

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Capital Area Animal Welfare Society (CAAWS) is hosting a pet food giveaway this Saturday to help those who receive food assistance and may be impacted by the federal government shutdown.

Libby Haydel, vice president of CAAWS, said they had a major food giveaway during the pandemic, and they’re looking forward to helping the community again.

The giveaway is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at 10 am at CAAWS, 6357 Quinn Drive, in Baton Rouge. Anyone who attends this event needs to have their SNAP card or a government ID…
