BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A new week-long initiative aims to make sure Baton Rouge families who use SNAP benefits and are impacted by the federal government shutdown don’t go hungry.
The mayor’s office said the A Table for All initiative, in partnership with local restaurants and St. Vincent de Paul, would run from Nov. 10-16. To get a free meal, people must show a valid EBT card and a photo ID. St. Vincent de Paul is the only place that will not require an EBT card to be shown to get a meal.
“Baton Rouge has always been a city that steps up for its neighbors,” said Mayor-President Sid Edwards. “A Table for All reflects who we are and reinforces the compassion of our community. When times get tough, we come together around the table.”…
