Local Veteran Returns to LSU, Pursues Cybersecurity to Continue Serving Community

Scott Sonnier has returned to Louisiana State University (LSU) after a career in the Navy and federal government. He first enrolled at LSU in 2001 but left to serve after the 9/11 attacks. Following his military service and ten years in federal employment, Sonnier retired for medical reasons and came back to Louisiana. He is now studying cybersecurity at LSU.

At LSU, Sonnier uses his military experience to support his studies. He applies skills from his work with hardware in the Navy to software in cybersecurity. He receives support at the William A. Brookshire Military & Veterans Student Center, which helps him connect with other students…
