I-TEAM: New report outlines Southern University fraternity hazing allegations

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – New documents outline the reason Southern University’s chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was issued a cease and desist following hazing allegations. According to a report obtained by the WAFB I-TEAM women trying out for the fraternity’s “Miss Black and Gold” pageant were reportedly forced to perform jumping jacks and other exercises.

According to documents, in early October, women were instructed to meet off campus in all-black attire. A university report indicates they were then made to perform jumping jacks and other exercises for extended periods, and also required to learn and recite a poem along with other fraternity-related information.

The university issued a cease and desist to Alpha Phi Alpha beginning with homecoming events last month…
