BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A man accused of the shooting death of one person during a Baton Rouge robbery involving a dirt bike pleaded not guilty to charges Monday.
Court records show that Markle Burris Jr., 18, pleaded not guilty to three counts of armed robbery, and one count each of attempted armed robbery and manslaughter. He was indicted on those charges by a grand jury last week.
Burris was charged in connection with the death of Melique Etienne, 22, in the 3700 block of Cathedral Drive near N. Foster Drive on July 22. Police said the two had met with sellers of a dirt bike that was listed on Facebook Marketplace.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, one of the robbery victims shot Etienne, but investigators determined that Burris was responsible for Etienne’s death…
