BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Louisiana State Police investigated two deadly crashes on Friday night.
According to LSP, troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 42 at Muddy Creek Road in Ascension Parish around 7:45 p.m. The crash claimed the life of Matthew Shields, 20, of Prairieville. A suspect, 45-year-old Danny Tabor, was arrested.

During the investigation, troopers learned that Tabor was driving east on LA Hwy 42 in a Ford F-150, while Shields was riding a motorcycle westbound. While trying to turn left onto Muddy Creek Road, Tabor entered Shields’ path, resulting in a crash. Troopers said Shields was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but sustained serious injuries and died at the hospital. Tabor was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was uninjured.
Tabor was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on charges of negligent homicide, failure to yield left turn, driving under suspension, no insurance, and expired inspection sticker.
