Informational meetings set for NEPA phase in proposed bridge project

Informational meetings will be held this month in St. Gabriel and Plaquemine as plans move into the next phase for a Mississippi River bridge that would connect the two cities.

A meeting is set for Dec. 9 in St. Gabriel and Dec. 10 in Plaquemine for the proposed Mississippi River-South Bridge — the official name of the project — as the project moves into the National Environmental Policy Act phase.

After the public meetings, the state Department of Transportation and Development will host a public meeting in Baton Rouge during the first quarter, along with public forums in Plaquemine and St. Gabriel, Iberville Parish President Chris Daigle said recently during the Parish Council’s regular monthly meeting…
