Bishop in Baton Rouge issues dispensation amid immigration sweeps

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Diocese of Baton Rouge Bishop Michael G. Duca has granted a dispensation from obligation to attend Mass amid an ongoing immigration crackdown in the state.

“This dispensation will be valid until the individual Catholic determines it is safe to attend Mass again or this dispensation is revoked or amended,” Duca said in a Friday statement.
