BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — A traffic stop ended with the arrest of a convicted felon and seizure of various drugs, a gun and drug paraphernalia.
Joseph Childs Jr., 30, of Baton Rouge, was charged with cruelty to juveniles, manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule I, manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule II, possession of legend drug without prescription or order, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of firearm by felon, illegal carrying of weapons with a controlled dangerous substance, improper equipment, and child passenger restraint system.
The Baton Rouge Police Department initiated the traffic stop at the intersection of N. Acadian Thruway and Bogan Walk Street. The responding officer saw Childs’ young son in the front seat and smelled marijuana coming from the car.
