On December 7, 2025, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of US 61 and Port Hudson Plains Road in East Baton Rouge Parish. Louisiana State Police Troop A reported that Calvin Turner, 45, of Zachary, was driving a 1994 Chevrolet pickup eastbound. He did not yield at a stop sign and collided with a southbound 2017 Ford Transit van. Turner was not wearing a seatbelt. He suffered serious injuries and later died at a local hospital.
