Founder of barbecue restaurant chain with locations in Louisiana dies at 96

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Floyd “Sonny” Tillman, the founder of Sonny’s BBQ, a Florida-based barbecue restaurant with locations throughout the Southern U.S., has died at the age of 96.

According to a statement released by the restaurant on Facebook, Tillman died on Dec. 7. He founded the restaurant in 1968 in Gainesville, Florida. Menu offerings include signature barbecue meats such as ribs, pork, chicken and beef brisket.
