Some St. George residents are voicing frustration over a proposed city ordinance that could raise their energy bills. In response, the City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to postpone a decision on the measure — which would levy a 5% fee on the electric utility company DEMCO — until its January meeting.
The proposal would affect only a small number of ratepayers, but could set a precedent for increases for other utilities.
DEMCO serves more than 7,000 customers in St. George, according to the company, most of whom are residents in District 4. By comparison, Entergy powers roughly 30,000 customers in the city…
